关于过年还有个传说，中国的新年跟打怪有关。“年”其实是神话中的一种怪兽，会在新年的第一天来吃小孩子、牲口和粮食。为了保护大家不受伤害，村民们将食物放在门口供“年”享用。因为“年”惧怕红色和炮竹，过年大家便会挂红灯笼，放鞭炮。
